restaurant interior designer working on a project

September 20th, 2013

I am currently designing a restaurant in Maryland and as usual implement my own feelings about the design features as I design. One of the many considerations is the seating layout and how people are oriented while dining. Personally, I refuse to be seated where I will be staring at a wall with my back to the entire restaurant. So, the usual long banquet along the wall with chairs opposite is not good for me if I’m in one of those chairs. However, this is what I see all the time in every restaurant I can think of. Perhaps most people just don’t mind facing the wall as much as I do and the entire feel of the restaurant design is what mostly counts to people. I plan to have a variety of seating types so in case anyone is like me and prefers to not face a wall during the dinner they can choose another table.
